Although it’s generally considered a good thing for women to have larger breasts, it can become a health problem if your body frame is ill-equipped to support the weight that comes with it. Disproportionately large breasts are a common problem among women that creates pain in the neck, back, and shoulder area. To combat this, a breast reduction may be the ideal solution.
A breast reduction is a surgical procedure designed to not only relieve pain but to improve appearance as well. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Kulick prefers to use the most common incision pattern of breast reduction done today, the anchor incision technique. This involves a circular incision around the areola while another incision travels vertically from the areola down the front of the breast to the chest wall. Another incision is made horizontally across the fold of the breast.
