Before
This is a difficult case. The lines between her eyebrows are very deep. When asked to “maximally frown,” the lines between her eyebrows become very prominent. The muscles that cause these lines are the corrugator, procerus and orbicularis oculi. She preferred to have her frown lines improved by using a neurotoxin such as BoTox, XEOMIN or Dysport vs. a skin filler such as using one’s own fat or a hyaluronic acid filler such as Juvaderm, Restylane or Belotero.
After
When asked to “maximally frown” after her neurotoxin injection, she still has residual lines between her eyebrows but they look better. Injecting the neurotoxin lower into the orbicularis oculi muscle directly below the eyebrows initially could have made the lines between her eyebrows look better. However, by doing this there is an additional risk of causing “ptosis” where the upper eyelid does not open fully due to the migration of the neurotoxin. She did not want this additional risk and was happy with her result. Another option for a better improvement would be to simultaneously inject a filler below the deep lines to lift the skin in conjunction with her neurotoxin injection.

Photorejuvenation really works providing improvement for unwanted redness, brown spots (hyperpigmentation) and even skin pore size. Using the Canfield VISIA skin analysis device, which provides computer generated information vs. relying upon patient or clinician opinion, this patient in her 50’s, had an improvement in her hyperpigmentation of her face and neck as well as an improvement in skin pore size 1 month after 5 IPL treatments. In the skin pore picture set, you can see the skin pores that were improved by the IPL, photorejuvenation treatment within the analytical zone.

When asked to frown, this woman did not like the frown lines between her eyebrows, the wrinkles on her upper eyelids, forehead and the wrinkles at the corner of her eyes = “crows feet.”
After
Following an injection of a neurotoxin product such as BoTox, XEOMIN, Dysport, when asked to frown, she has an improvement of the pre-treatment lines between her eyebrows, forehead and at the corner of her eyes = “crows feet.”

B; This patient has both depressed areas as well as bulging areas. She received 8 SmoothShapes treatments isolated to the lateral thigh. In the after picture, you can see where the “non-treated” areas exist in the anterior and posterior thigh.
A; 6 months after 8 in office treatments that required no anesthesia with the SmoothShapes device, she has a much better appearance of her lateral thigh. Her thighs are smoother due to an elevation of the depressed areas as well as flattening of the bulges. This improvement exists despite an increase in her weight and percent body fat!
